  • Health and Safety an organisational discipline of its own
I think TracyR hits the nail on the head. Somehow, someone, needs to be able to inform the Board of the potential risk they face by having a H&S reporting mechanism that tells them anything other than exactly how it is.
If they don't want to see Incidents rated 'High' then make sure they allow the conversation to be had that explains the process involved in mitigating the risk to a 'Medium' or less.
  • Holding people to account
SafetylawyerNZ - keen to get your thoughts as to why the law avoids prosecuting large companies, if they are less likely to be able to avoid the impecuniosity claim?
Also keen to get your view, and those of others, as to whether recent WorkSafe prosecutions are actually dealing with the impecuniosity issue by amending the size of the penalty to 'hurt' the organisation financially, without bankrupting them. Or am I wrong with that line of thinking?

I'm Steve (Hudgell) Business Development Manager at SimTutor. Whilst we do have a product offering, I'm very clear on the rules of engagement within this forum and will not transgress these. I see it as a way for me to understand better what the current and emerging pain points are across the H&S Sector, as the changes in legislation start to bite, and make the need for action very real.
